Glossary
Intent : Navigational
Search intent where the user wants to reach a specific brand, site or page they already know. The brand appears explicitly in the phrasing.
Concrete example
"X official site", "X support contact", "X customer login".
Why it matters
These intents assume prior notoriety. On GEOPromptly they mainly serve as a control: if an LLM doesn't even return your brand on a navigational intent, there is an indexing or citation problem.
Related terms
- Intent : Transactional
Search intent with a clearly anticipated action or purchase. Often contains an action verb ("buy", "order", "download", "book") or a modifier ("price", "cheap", "promo code").
- Intent : Informational
Search-intent type where the user wants to understand, learn or get informed, with no immediate purchase goal. Often phrased as an open question.
- Branded share
The proportion of prompts in a batch that explicitly mention your brand, as opposed to those that stay generic ("what's the best portable AC?" vs "is portable AC X any good?"). Expressed as a percentage of the batch.
